Generous donations from Wing Yip and Brothers (Holdings) Ltd have enabled Churchill College to establish Wing Yip Scholarships, the Wing Yip Chinese Studies Fund and the Wing Yip China Travel Grant.
The Scholarships now fund three students from China each year to come to Churchill College to read for a one-year MPhil degree at the University of Cambridge.
The Chinese Studies Fund supports members of Churchill College in Chinese Studies for their study trips to China and for their research related to China.
The Wing Yip China Travel Grant is to support non-Chinese members of Churchill College to travel to China in the spirit of "To Come, To See, and To Appreciate".
The Master of Churchill College, Sir David Wallace, comments:
"I am personally delighted that Mr. Yip is continuing, and indeed expanding, his generous support for the Scholarships, the Chinese Studies Fund and the China Travel Grant. It is extremely generous of him, and reflects his admirable vision of the importance of such opportunities for outstanding young people. The College benefits greatly from the contributions to our community by China's brightest young academic stars, and I am sure that they also benefit from the stimulating environment of the College and Cambridge. As a frequent visitor to China, I am only too aware of the significance for us all of China's pool of extraordinary young talent and the import of her economic and scientific advance. The Wing Yip Scholarships, the Fund and the Grant give us a most welcome opportunity to participate in this process"
