Our offers are by and large in line with those typically set across the Cambridge Colleges. They are stretching but eminently achievable. We will sometimes set a slightly lower offer if an applicant showing great promise has been significantly disadvantaged educationally or otherwise; equally, we sometimes set slightly higher offers in cases where we are interested in making an offer but need additional reassurance about a promising applicant's ability and potential; we believe it is in the applicant's best interests that we do this, and so give them the benefit of the doubt, rather than make no offer at all.
Typical Churchill offers, in the examination systems that candidates most regularly present at application, are as follows:
Please note that for Law our offers will typically be a little tougher than those for other subjects, and that for Maths we will almost invariably ask for grades 1, 1 in two STEP examinations — usually STEP Maths papers 2 and 3.
Other examination systems: If you are completing examinations in an examination system not listed above (every year there are a number of strong applicants in this situation), please contact the Churchill Admissions Office for advice. Offers will be, so far as we can judge, equivalent in standard to those listed above. As a general rule, we are looking for students whose academic record places them in the top 3 or 4 percentiles nationally of ability and achievement.
