The Judge David Stokes QC Memorial Bursary Fund
The Fund was set up in 2005 as a memorial to David Stokes (U63) to commemorate his life and contribution to law.
A permanent judge at the Old Bailey, David Stokes rose through the ranks from graduation to become a Recorder, Queens Counsel, a Bencher of Gray's Inn and finally a permanent Judge at the Old Bailey.
“At the Bar he was a formidable advocate, tough, resolute, persuasive, and with a sharp, sometimes acerbic wit; he became an outstanding Judge, patient, firm, resourceful and courteous.”
The Honourable Mr Justice Penry-Davey
The Stokes Bursary Fund is used to provide financial support to current and future Churchill law students.
