Dates on which degrees may be taken in PERSON OR IN ABSENCE.
Please print out the Degree Application form (available as a Word document) when you have decided on the date and method by which you intend to proceed to your degree. Lists of candidates have to be submitted to the University in advance of each Congregation. You should therefore complete this form and return it to the Tutorial Assistant, to reach her not less than two weeks before the chosen Congregation date. Please note that in the case of the large MA Congregation on 28 April, it is essential that your application form is returned to Mrs Stephanie Cook, the Tutorial Assistant, to reach her no later than Wednesday 4 April 2012. Applications received after this date cannot be accepted.
Please note that you must apply for tickets for any guests you wish to come to the Senate House. We can guarantee three tickets but may be able to issue more by special application, subject to University regulations.
On the day of Congregations, the Praelector will hold a lunch for those about to proceed to degrees in person. Lunch is normally held in the Club Room at Churchill College at 12:00 for 12:30, and ends at 13:45, after which a rehearsal for the degree ceremony takes place. Those who wish to come to the lunch may do so free of charge in lieu of one free High Table dinner from their dining entitlement. You may bring guests at charge of £25 per person. The charge includes wine, which will be served with the lunch.
Candidates may, of course, prefer to take lunch elsewhere and simply attend the rehearsal, normally at 13:45 in College. (Notices are displayed in College giving details of time and location.)
