I'm very glad the archives are proving useful (and that we just released the Falklands material this spring) - you might also want to check out the British Diplomatic Oral History Programme, which has a number of online interviews which might help, such as Sir Richard Parsons, Sir Robert Wade-Gery or Charles Powell. And of course you'd be more than welcome to come and check out the archives here if you're over from China.

I'm a senior undergraduate student majoring in international politics at Fudan University in China. Currently I'm working on my thesis focusing on Lady Thatcher's foreign policy during the Falklands War. Your archives definitely provide me lots of fresh ideas and information. I really appreciate your work on releasing these archives. And I sincerely hope that one day I could pay a visit to your centre!

Dear Martin

Yes, you're right, we do, and even a few bits and pieces from Crick as well. There's a list of all our related collections on our Subject page, but I thought I'd concentrate on Franklin this time, as it was her archive which was going online.

Dear Maxine

Thank you so much for getting in touch: we know very little about the Biggin Hill speech, so it's really interesting to know that there was at least one other copy besides the one presented to Churchill - was your father in law one of the officers there? And your photos sound interesting too - we do have one photo of Churchill opening a Churchill Court at the British Legion home in Sevenoaks, but that's 12 October 1946, so yours probably come from a different event.

Hello,

I have Churchill's lunch speech to officers 18/6/51 at Biggin Hill (2 78's - 4 sides) Belding and Bennett. It is almost identical to the copy you show in the photo above. So, there is at least one other copy in existence! We also have a collection of photographs which look to be Press Agency. Some include an event on 14/10/46 when Churchill was presented Kippington Court for the British Legion. We have these from our family archives, as my father in law was present at some of the events. Please contact me if these would be of interest, Maxine
