Archives Awareness: Online exhibition

Admiral Sir Henry Crooke enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1888 at the age of twelve and went on to become an expert in naval gunnery, serving in both the First and Second World Wars. Privately, he seems to have had a passion for sailing ships: this sketch comes from an album full of meticulous drawings of sailing rigs, which he drew while home on leave during Christmas 1915.
