A diary account by John Hugill of the D Day landings and the difficult conditions on board the landing craft and of the "skipper's nightmare" of the landings. Hugill finally landed at 1100 hours and noted "I can hardly claim to have come in on D Day". Hugill was serving with 30 Assault Unit led by Ian Fleming (the author of the James Bond novels).
