A relic of a World Cup match against Germany which England fans like to remember. Students at Churchill College were often invited to the Master's Lodge. This 'At Home' invitation was sent out by the College's first Master, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Sir John Cockcroft, for the afternoon of 30 July 1966. It is reported that Sir John and Lady Cockcroft were somewhat perplexed as to why everyone arrived at once, half an hour late and very excited.
