Image of the Month

To mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, this is one of Archive Centre's newest accessions, donated to us in November of this year. It provided our conservation team with quite a packaging challenge. A special box was hand-made for it from archival corrugated board, held together with brass rivets and padded out with inert polyester wadding within a polyester non-woven fabric cover. Then to avoid damage to the brittle edges, the chunk of wall was strapped securely into its box by a strap of polyester film.
