This post was created in October 2006 and is currently held by Mark Miller. Mark's own musical interests centre on piano, organ and choir.
He was the Precentor of Downing College Chapel Choir for four years as a student in Cambridge and went on to sing with St James Cathedral Choir, Seattle and the Netherlands Bach Ensemble during postdoctoral stays in the USA and Amsterdam. He is currently a member of Cambridge-based Ishirini and The Pearce Singers.
Mark is a regular participant in the College Choir, which presents a concert each term. In 2010, Mark launched a new choir, dedicated to singing for weekly choral services in the Chapel. He continues to oversee this group and is the Senior Member responsible for the new Organ Scholarship.
Music-making at Churchill has a tradition of being friendly, inclusive, diverse in style and of high quality. Mark is keen to involve musicians from all the college's constituencies (undergraduates, advanced students, Fellows and staff) in the excitement of learning new music and performing together or as soloists. He is also actively encouraging musical collaborations with Churchill's neighbouring Colleges of Murray Edwards and Fitzwilliam.
