How do you build a subsea Arctic oil pipeline that can avoid being ruptured when icebergs scrape the sea bed? Andrew Palmer was project manager for the first Arctic offshore pipeline, and has been involved with marine and land pipelines in the North Sea, the Middle East, and Far East. His book, Subsea Pipeline Engineering, covers every aspect: routing, design, construction, materials, corrosion, welding, buckling, stability, strength, decommissioning. Like many engineers, he has divided his career between professional practice and university research and teaching.
