Before retirement, Frank King was a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Laboratory with a particular interest in programming languages and extra-departmental teaching. For many years he was Director of Studies in Computer Science in Churchill. He continues to be Churchill's Praelector and he is also the University Bellringer. He is currently Chairman of the British Sundial Society and has designed a number of notable sundials: at Pembroke, Selwyn and Newnham Colleges in Cambridge and in Old Palace Yard outside the House of Lords in London as well as the noon mark on the new London Stock Exchange.
