Mark studied Natural Sciences at Selwyn College matriculating in 2005. He is now completing a PhD in the department of Biochemistry on the topic of NMR method development for application to large systems in particular membrane proteins. His PhD has covered a range of topics from in vitro membrane mimics to the light cycle of the photoactivated protein sensory rhodopsin II, but much of his research involves investigating new data processing methods which enable NMR experiments to be reconstructed from undersampled data, significantly shortening the length of experiments. He has taught IA Chemistry for Selwyn since 2009. He is also a keen musician and has sung with Selwyn choir for a number of years.
