Dr Hallvard Lillehammer teaches moral philosophy in the Faculty of Philosophy, where he is Sidgwick Lecturer and a University Senior Lecturer. He was educated at University College London and at Peterhouse, Cambridge; after which he held a Jacobsen Research Fellowship at King's College London and a lectureship at Reading University. From 2000 to 2009 he was Fellow and Director of Studies in Philosophy at King's College. His research is focused on the interpretation and criticism of basic ideas in contemporary moral and political thought, including conceptions of reason, objectivity, impartiality and autonomy. His book, Companions in Guilt: arguments for ethical objectivity was published in 2007. He is the recipient of a 2010 Pilkington Prize for excellence in teaching in the University.
