Simon Bittleston is currently Managing Director of Schlumberger Cambridge Research which undertakes fundamental research for all the Schlumberger businesses.
Having been awarded a Ph.D. in fluid mechanics, he joined Schlumberger in 1985 at their research centre in Cambridge. After becoming a research programme manager he moved to Norway in 1994 and became domain manager for the development of Marine Seismic systems where he was responsible for the development of Q-Marine. In 1999 he became a research director for the company, and then in 2001 moved to Houston as VP Product Development which included all product development and manufacturing. In 2006 he became Schlumberger's VP of Mergers and Acquisitions, based in Paris, and was responsible for the purchase of more than 40 technology companies. He moved into his current job in May 2010. He is married with three children.
