Catz 2 - 6 Churchill

It was another excellent start: we put the ball in the back of the net before Catz touched it. Still, we knew how important it was to keep our concentration and didn't relax until Wes scored our second (ten minutes later) after an excellent run through the Catz defense. To give due credit, Catz kept battling, eventually bringing it back to 2:1 and when Paulo went off with an injury, it looked like we were in for a tough game. Rising to the occasion, Huw scored his first MCR goal - an excellent half-volley into the top corner. Catz were stunned; our guys were pretty impressed as well. Things continued to go our way and Eshan made it 4:1 at half-time with a powerful shot that the Catz keeper couldn't do anything about. Things were relatively uneventful for the first 20 minutes of the second half although Catz did score a second, against the run of play. We needed something to put some life back into the game and the introduction of Thomas K and Jared seemed like a good solution. Directly following the substitutions, Eshan scored his second and was unlucky to see a hat-trick denied through some good goal keeping. Jared picked up the loose ball and stuck it in the net to make it 6:2. Overall, it was a really good team performance. Catz are a better team than we made them look today - they bet Corpus (our next opponents) 16:1 so we should be in for another goal-fest next weekend.
