Hill Chorus

The Hill Chorus is a community choir run by the music societies of Churchill and Murray Edwards Colleges along with our 'hill college' neighbours. It is open to the whole, extended community: staff, students, fellows, friends, and locals!

We sing a range of music both sacred and secular, ancient and modern. Rehearsals are weekly, on Wednesday evenings, starting October 4th, in the Churchill College Recital Room (number 7 on the map). We generally sing one, relaxed, informal concert per term featuring a variety of short items. There are no auditions, and membership is free to all, whether you're pitch perfect or tone deaf!

Come along an give it a try!

Hill Chorus, Easter 2014

Members of Hills College Chorus contribute in many other ways to the musical life of the college. These include singing at various college occasions, often with members of the Chapel Choir, such as memorial services or college feasts as well as small-group singing opportunities such as madrigal evenings.

Information for Prospective Members

To join the mailing list for the chorus, please add your address by following this link.

Hill Chorus welcomes new singers at any time in the academic year, but particularly at the beginning of term. We rehearse every Wednesday evening, with a break for biscuits and squash. Socialising between members of the chorus is important, and hence rehearsals have an informal atmosphere.

Hill Chorus

New members can just come along to rehearsals, there’s no need to audition. An ability to sight-sing is not essential and neither is choral experience, but you should be able to read music. It’s best to start at the first rehearsal of term, but you won’t be turned away if you start later on. Future and past repertoire can be found at the bottom of this page.

For further information, or to join the choir, contact the Chorus Director, Kim Ward (kltw2).
