Postdoctoral By-Fellowships

Postdoctoral By-Fellows are appointed from among the postdoctoral researchers of the University of Cambridge and its associated research institutes to strengthen the already significant community of postdocs among the Churchill Fellowship (which also includes Teaching By-Fellows).

Churchill College seeks to appoint a further 10 Postdoctoral By-Fellows from among the postdoctoral researchers of the University of Cambridge and its associated research institutes. The appointments will be for up to three years from 1 October 2016.

Criteria

The By-Fellowships are intended to strengthen the already significant community of postdocs among the Churchill Fellowship. They provide membership of the SCR, some dining rights at College expense, access to sports and music facilities and opportunities for participation in the academic and social life of the College.

Applicants must hold a salaried postdoctoral research position or personal fellowship in the University or one of its associated research institutes, with tenure for at least two years, that is until September 2018. Applications are welcome in any subject.  Appointments will be made on the basis of academic distinction and potential contribution to the academic community at Churchill College. These positions involve no formal teaching requirement, although undergraduate teaching may be available in some subjects, but it is hoped that appointees will participate in mentoring our postgraduate students or contribute to the College in other ways.

Applications

Application is by CV and letter, in which, in no more than 750 words, applicants must describe their research, and explain its importance and what they will bring to the Churchill academic community. Applicants must also arrange for two academic referees to write on their behalf.

Both applications and references must be received by Noelle Caulfield, Fellowship Secretary at Churchill College by Monday 2 May 2016.
