Establishing a Framework for Political Leadership

Professor David Howarth, former MP for Cambridge and Professor of Law and Public Policy, is the perfect Chairman to help us set the framework for the day as this first panel will debate the criteria for assessing political leadership.

Dr Toby James of the University of East Anglia, the co-convenor of the Political Studies Association Research Group on Political Leadership, will get us started by presenting the framework used in the books he has just edited (with Charles Clarke) on British Conservative and Labour Party Leaders.

His ideas will then be discussed by Dr Peter Sloman, Professor Georgia Sorenson and Dr Kristina Spohr, who will bring their expert UK, US and European research to the debate.
