Celebrating Professor Athene Donald

We are delighted to invite you to a special event celebrating the contribution to the College of Professor Dame Athene Donald, who served as the seventh Master of Churchill College from 2014 to 2024. A distinguished physicist, she brought a fresh perspective to the role and made a lasting impact, including significant progress in addressing the gender balance within the College.

To mark her decade of leadership and service, Dame Athene will plant the 1,000th tree on the College grounds—Quercus robur ‘Fastigiate Koster’—situated near Churchill’s oak tree.

The planting ceremony will take place on Monday 28 September at 12.00pm at Churchill College, followed by a buffet lunch the Fellows Dining Room.
