Grammatical Error Correction is the task of automatically detecting and correcting grammatical errors in text. With more than a billion people learning English in the world today, this problem is now bigger than ever. If you've ever struggled to remember the difference between 'practice' and 'practise' or wondered how grammar checking software works, come along to this talk and I'll describe some of the different approaches to the problem and explain why it's so hard!

The talk will be followed by wine and cheese.
