Graduation Celebration - 18 September 2021

In-person Graduation Celebration for those who either graduated in absence or for those who deferred graduation from Postgraduate Degrees (e.g. MPhil, PhD) during the COVID pandemic.

Following your graduation in absence last summer, we are delighted to finally be able to welcome you back to College to celebrate the collection of your degree in person.

The ceremony will be held on the afternoon of Saturday 18th September. We very much hope that you’ll take up our invitation to return to Churchill to reunite with others from your cohort, process through Senate House to celebrate your degree, and attend the graduation lunch that we were unable to offer you last year. It is encouraging to see a gradual and safe return to our usual degree ceremonies in line with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, and I look forward to being able to follow through on the promise we made to you last summer of being able to welcome you back to Cambridge in person to celebrate the collection of your degree.

If you are able to join us, please book your place using the following form by 7 September 2021.

Please note that whilst the graduation lunch is free of charge for anyone celebrating a degree, there will be a charge for your guests who are attending the lunch.

Provisional Timetable

The programme of events for 18th September will be confirmed in due course.

Your guests will be very welcome in Churchill College all afternoon, and at the dress rehearsal and lunch. Unfortunately they will not be able to watch the ceremony from Senate House itself due to capacity restrictions that will remain in place, but will be able to watch a live video link on personal devices from Churchill.

Celebration Lunch

A Celebration Lunch in College will be held on Saturday 18th September. The lunch will be free of charge for you, but there will be a charge of £26 per person for any guests. You may bring a maximum of 2 guests to the lunch.

Arrangements for Guests

We regret that due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, guests are not allowed at the Senate House . Guests are also being asked by the authorities not to gather near the Senate House, which will in any case be completely screened by marquees and tenting, so there will unfortunately be nothing to see.

However, guests are welcome to attend the dress rehearsal, may watch you begin your procession down to the Senate House outside college, and will be able to watch a live video link on personal devices from Churchill.

Up to two guests are also welcome to stay in college accommodation, and attend the Celebration Lunch.
