The Music Society is delighted to announce its Lent Term Friday evening Pre-formal Recital Series.

All recitals are at 6:15pm in the Recital Room unless stated otherwise. Performances are FREE and un-ticketed, with a retiring collection.

25 January — Oli Cope (Harp)

Oli Cope (Clare) will play a varied programme featuring classical and contemporary harp repertoire including jazz arrangement.

1 February — Bursary Holders’ Recital

Performances by the 2018-19 Bursary Holders.

8 February  — Katherine Tinker (Piano)

Katherine is a Park Lane Group young artist, who plays a range of classical music styles and specialises in new music. She regularly performs at the Wigmore Hall and has been broadcast on Radio 3. Katherine will also be offering masterclasses to our student pianists in the afternoon. For details about the masterclasses, please contact our Director of Music Ewan Campbell at eahc2@cam.ac.uk.

15 February  —  Jack Mainwaring (Flute)

Jack returns to Churchill having graduated in 2018, and is in the early stages of a flute career in South Wales.

22 February  — Miriam Shovel and Churchill Swing

Miriam Shovel (PhD; Trinity) is equally at home singing jazz in a bar, as she is singing choral music in Trinity Chapel Choir. Churchill Swing are led from the bass by our Director of Music Ewan Campbell, and were formed for the 2018 Churchill Christmas Party.

1 March — Churchill Jazz Band

Churchill Jazz Band celebrates their 11th birthday with style: bringing in extra forces to form an even Bigger Band (including French horns) to perform The Incredibles Theme Tune, amongst other classics.

(Note this concert may be moved to a larger hall within College)

8 March —  CU Recorder Ensemble

For the past nine years CURE have been exploring the 900-year-old tradition of recorder music. However, for this concert, they will be exploring the music of video games.
