The programme will be run by our Medicine Directors of Studies, Dr Jason Ali and Dr Liz Soilleux, with input from our Admissions Tutor in Medical and Natural Sciences, Dr Sally Boss and current Churchill medical students.

Details

For students who would like to study Medicine at the University of Cambridge, this event will tell you about how we work as medics, and how our admissions process works for applicants. As part of the day, you will attend two masterclasses (in cutting-edge diagnostics and transplant surgery) and an ethics workshop (with a prize for the team which responds best to the presented issues).

You’ll also spend time at Churchill College and experience what life as a Cambridge medical student is like. There will be opportunities to speak with current students about applying to and working in Cambridge, and our Directors of Studies and Admissions Tutors will be on-hand to provide lots of information to you (and your parents, if they accompany you).

Please be aware that, for capacity reasons, we are running separate programmes for potential applicants and accompanying adults at this event. Once adults have attended their 'Supporting applicants' session, from 10.20–11am, they are welcome to leave Churchill to find some lunch and explore Cambridge. Our programme for students at Churchill will finish at around 4pm, so adults should feel free to return then, ready for departure — we suggest you meet either in the College’s Buttery (café area) or at the front of College, by the Porters’ Lodge. Due to high participant student numbers accompanying adults will not be able to join the final Q&A session.

Parents and accompanying adults

In addition to this programme for students, we will be running a separate session for parents and accompanying adults from 10.20am, on the Medicine admissions process and supporting applicants. This session will conclude by noon.

Adults are then free to spend the remainder of the day in Cambridge, though they are welcome to re-join students for the final Q&A at 3.55pm.
