Postdoctoral By-Fellows,

Alice is an Oppenheimer Research Fellow based in the Department of Physics. Her research aims to use experimental model systems to understand how ions, molecules and macromolecules translocate through the narrow pores in cell membranes. In particular, she exploits a range of experimental techniques, including microfluidics, optical tweezing, colloidal suspensions and DNA nanotechnology, to build novel model systems at the micro and nanoscale that provide fundamental insight into transport in these confined channel geometries.

Before coming to Cambridge, Alice completed her doctoral work in Physical Chemistry with Prof. Roel Dullens at the University of Oxford, focusing on the use of colloidal model hard sphere systems to probe the structure, dynamics and phase behaviour of two-dimensional materials.
