Karson’s educational background is in psychology. He received his BSc from University College London (UCL) and PhD from the University of Cambridge. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hong Kong. His research examines issues related to gender and sexuality in human development. His studies have included typically-developing individuals, clinical populations, as well as sexual and gender minorities. He is passionate about testing and integrating different theoretical perspectives, such as those concerning neural, hormonal, cognitive, social, and cultural influences.
