Ruusa Ligthart holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, Institute for Manufacturing, Centre of Technology Management. Her PhD studies contributed to the research on innovation management, open innovation and service innovation. Her PhD research identified specific features and differences in public and private sector organisations innovation management by providing a framework for conceptualisation of open service innovation. In addition, her research findings support practitioners in structuring and managing the design of their innovation processes.

After her PhD Ruusa continued as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge, Institute for Manufacturing, Cambridge Service Alliance. Her post-doc studies focus on innovation management in the public sector organisations.

Ruusa Ligthart also works in Finland as a principal lecturer and head of Master’s joint degree programme, Managing Digital transformation in the health sector in Laurea University of Applied Science. She has extensive experience in teaching, supervising thesis as well as managing, developing and executing RDI projects.
