2023

Subject

Mathematical Science

Fellow Type

By-Fellows,

Valerie is Professor of Engineering at Loughborough University with a research programme focussing on the mathematical modelling of ultrasonic wave scattering in heterogeneous media with associated computational and experimental investigations. She is also developing the application of machine learning techniques to material design and optimised control for electrochemical systems for energy applications and for more sustainable chemical production without fossil fuel feedstocks.

Valerie is a Co-organiser of a six-month programme at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences on the Theory and Applications of Multiple Wave Scattering (Jan-Jun 2023) and is delighted to be returning to Churchill College as a Visiting By-Fellow having graduated in Natural Sciences from the College in 1990.
