Professor Stéphane Mangin
Stéphane received his Ph.D. in Physics from Université Joseph Fourrier in Grenoble in 1997. He was a Visiting Scientist at the Hitachi GST San Jose Research center California (USA) in 2004 – 2005 and an Invited Professor at the Center for magnetic Recording Research at University of California San Diego in 2012-13. Stéphane has been a Professor since 2008 at Université de Lorraine where he leads the research team of Spintronics and Nanomagnetism at the Institut Jean Lamour. He is the scientific director of a unique tool (TUBE-Davm) : a 70 meter Tube under Ultra High Vacuum which connects 30 equipments to growth and characterise material down to the atomic scale. Stéphane works in the field of Nano-magnetism and Spin Electronic. During the last 15 years, he has focused on magnetization manipulation at the nanometer scale using various stimulus such as field pulse, electric field current pulse and ultra-short laser pulses. His team demonstrated ultra-fast magnetisation reversal of a ferromagnetic layer using a single femto-second laser. Stéphane is a senior member of Institut Universitaire de France, a fellow of the American Physical society and a fellow of the IEEE magnetic Society.
