The 1960 Club

About

You are invited to join a distinguished group helping to ensure that our most financially disadvantaged students have a bright future.

Named after the year of our foundation, the 1960 Club is open to all those who choose to make an annual gift of £1,960 (excluding gift aid) in support of the Winston Churchill Top-Up Bursary Fund.

Churchill is distinctive in having an unusually high number of undergraduates from very financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Contrary to other institutions, students from this group excel at Churchill. We attribute our success to the very close individual support we offer and the top-up funding they are receiving.

As a matter of urgent priority, we would like to continue to fund the top-up bursaries as the funding previously received for this initiative has ended.

1960 Club benefits

For each year of giving:

  • Personal gift acknowledgement from the Master and notification of your gift to College Council
  • Invitation to attend a special annual event
  • Dedicated annual Winston Churchill Top-Up Bursary Fund newsletter/impact report for 1960 Club members

Those choosing to make a five-year gift at this level will also be eligible to join the Oak Circle which entitles members to attend the Oak Circle drinks reception and specially arranged annual dinner with the Master.

Winston Churchill Top-Up Bursary Fund

In 2018 the then Senior Tutor Richard Partington met with the Development Office to talk about the importance of the top-up bursaries and explain why they make such a huge impact on our neediest students. Our objectives remain the same today.

We have launched the 1960 Club to help ensure talented students can continue to benefit from a Churchill education and the life-enhancing opportunities it provides, regardless of their background.
