The College is saddened to announce the death of Fellow and alumnus Sir Anthony Barnes Atkinson, FBA, CBE (U63) on 1 January 2017 aged 73.

Churchill Postdoctural By-Fellow Alexey Amunts recognised for his contribution to the visualisation of fundamental biological structures using electron cryo-microscopy (cryo-EM).

Professor Oliver Hart wins economics Nobel Prize

We are delighted to report that Oliver Hart,  Fellow in Economics at Churchill College from 1975–1981, has been jointly awarded the 2016 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences, along with Bengt Holmström of MIT for their work in the field of contracts. This is the 32nd Nobel prize awarded to a member of the College.

David Thouless wins Nobel Prize in Physics

Congratulations to former Fellow, David Thouless who is one of three British scientists awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2016 for "theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter.” 

The ‘Greg and Rosie Lock Cambridge Bursaries’ to enable more Welsh state school pupils to study STEM subjects at Churchill

Greg Lock, an alumnus and lifelong rugby enthusiast from South Wales, has made a substantial donation to the College. He and his wife have endowed the ‘Greg and Rosie Lock Cambridge Bursaries’ to enable more Welsh state school pupils, boys and girls in equal number, to study STEM subjects at Churchill.
