Congratulations to Churchill Fellow Dr Sander van der Linden, who has been elected as the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) for prominent contributions to social change research.
Dr van der Linden is a University Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in the Department of Psychology and directs the Cambridge Social Decision-Making (CSDM) Lab. His research is broadly interested in social norms and social influence processes, human altruism and prosociality, and the psychology of risk, judgment, and decision-making. His work on the psychology of 'viral' online campaigns and his collaboration with The Economist, to develop an online course for young people to teach them how to spot 'fake news' has received recent national press coverage.
Based in London and founded in 1754, The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and its diverse international Fellowship aim to enrich society through ideas and action. Notable members of the Fellowship have included Charles Dickens, Stephen Hawking and Bejamin Franklin.
