Amazon offers an annual bursary of £5000 per year to support up to three female UK/EU students for the duration of their undergraduate degree course at Churchill College. The bursary scheme is aimed at helping young women from less advantaged backgrounds fulfil their ambitions of a career in innovation and technology.
As well as supporting female students’ living costs for up to four years, Amazon also provides mentoring on business skills such as CV-building and interview techniques, as well as a potential work placement at a local Amazon Development Centre.
Sophie Durrant (U16), is the current holder of Churchill’s first Amazon Women in Innovation Bursary. Now in her second year of a Computer Science degree at Churchill College, the Bursary has provided Sophie with a fantastic package of support that includes: an annual bursary of £5,000 for the three years of her course, access to a mentor and access to internship opportunities at the Cambridge Amazon Development Centre.
