An image of Concorde for September, which comes from one of the collections which I’m working on at the moment, the papers of Julian Amery. If you are wondering what on earth Concorde has to do with political archives, Amery was Minister of Aviation in the 1960s, and this month just happens to be the 40th anniversary of Concorde’s first non-stop crossing of the Atlantic. Amery’s political papers have been catalogued already, and are proving an excellent resource for students of the 1950s-70s. I am now working on his correspondence, which runs from the 1940s to the 1990s. As there are about half a dozen boxes of letters for each year, it’s taking me quite a while, but I am now up to the mid-80s, so the end is (just about) in sight!
