Allen Packwood and Professor David Edgerton

Last week the Archives Centre played host to a seminar to mark the centenary of the birth of Sir Geoffrey Jackson, a distinguished diplomat who on his last posting to Uruguay in 1971 was kidnapped by the Tupamaros guerrilla group and held prisoner for eight months.

The seminar was organised by the University of Montevideo, as part of a project on Journalism and Memory. You can find out more on the event from the University’s website.
