An outstanding performance from all of the crews during Lent Bumps saw one of the best overall performances for the Boat Club in years with Churchill winning the Marconi Cup for the best college by a large margin of 16 points.

All three crews went up, with the Men’s first boat achieving a bump at every race, for an impressive five overall to win blades and move back into the top Men’s Division. A solid week of rowing from the Women’s first boat saw them bump twice and row over twice, while the Men’s second boat completed Churchill’s domination of the Marconi Cup with three bumps and a row over.

Rowing home with the flag, some rather excellent rowing by Marla and coxing by Dan followed a quick dip in the Cam is one of my proudest moments with CCBC. Very, very proud of the whole crew for an almost faultless week, blading +5 back to Division 1!

Hard work and hours of training during the cold winter months paid off with Churchill crews bumping traditionally very strong clubs, such as W1 on Lady Margaret Boat Club (St Johns) and M1 on Emmanuel.

CCBC looks forward to a strong set of races in the coming months, starting with Head of the River Race and Women’s Head of the River Race on the tideway in London.
