The Churchill Casino has been very busy at this year’s May Balls. With the profits made from this year’s activities, the committee has been able to donate over £2000 to charities.
£1500 was donated to Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre and £500 to our Winston Wheelers, who earlier this month rode 100km to raise money for cancer charities.
Speaking about their donations, the Churchill Casino Committee said:
“We really appreciate the work the Cambridge Rape Crisis Centre does in supporting victims and we would like to raise awareness of the charity among Cambridge Students.
A lot of people have been touched by cancer in some way, whether they have suffered themselves, lost loved ones, or been one of the lucky ones that vital research has helped to save. Churchill Casino are delighted to add another £500 to the money raised by members of the Winston Wheelers, who rode 100km in the The Woman V Cancer Night Ride — bringing their magnificent total to £2500.”
The charity offers support to women and girls who have experienced rape, childhood sexual abuse or any other form of sexual violence. Run by women, it offers a confidential and non-judgemental service as well as support to family, friends and professionals who are supporting a survivor.
The Churchill Casino is a well-established Cambridge-based enterprise which provides flexible and tailored packages to JCRs, MCRs, University societies, May Balls and Corporate events in Cambridge and across the country.
