Launch of the new Cambridge Institute for Public Policy to take place at Churchill
We are delighted that Churchill College will be hosting the formal launch of the new Cambridge University Institute for Public Policy, which will take place on 16 April. Professor Mike Kenny of Fitzwilliam College and Professor of Public Policy is the Director of the Institute, and Professor Diane Coyle, inaugural Bennett Professor of Public Policy and a Fellow of Churchill College, is a member. Her University Professorship has been endowed by Churchill alumnus Peter Bennett (U75).
The new institute aims to understand the effect on society wrought by political instability, as well as technological and economic change, to assist policy-makers in adapting accordingly. It is based at POLIS and has a particular interdisciplinary emphasis – for example on examining the impact of scientific development on society and ensuring policy-making keep up with the inevitable challenges posed by some developments.
The launch day will feature talks by prominent speakers, including Diane Coyle on tackling social inequality in the 21st Century, Gus O’Donnell, former cabinet secretary, Professor David Runciman and Martha Lane Fox. The Master, Professor Dame Athene Donald will also chair a session on ‘technocrats without technocracy’.
Please note that this event is sold out as of 5 April.
