This year’s MCR Conference on Everything will begin with an exciting plenary talk by Churchill alumnus — mathmatician, science writer and science fiction author Professor Ian Stewart. Professor Stewart is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Warwick and has collaborated with Dr Jack Cohen and Terry Pratchett on four popular science books based on Pratchett’s ‘Discworld.’ His talk, entitled ‘Mathematical modelling of visual illusions’ will look at recent research using simple networks of neurons to model the decision-making process involved in interpreting ambiguous images and rivalry.
The conference aims to reveal some of the exciting research being undertaken by the Churchill postgraduate community.Alternating sessions of podium talks and poster exhibitions will conclude with a prizegiving for the best poster and best presentation.
Attendance is free and open to the public.
