Two Churchill undergraduates, Rachel Snow and Dorottya Nagy will take on the Tideway Championship course this Sunday as part of the Blondie reserve crew for in the 71st Women’s Boat Race—now in its second year on the Thames.
First raced in 1829 (men) and 1927 (women), The Cancer Research UK Boat Races are amongst the oldest sporting events in the world, watched by thousands along the banks of the Tideway, between Putney and Mortlake in London, and by millions more on TV around the world.
Rachel and Dorottya also competed in the 2016 Henley Boat Races as part of the CUWBC lightweight crew against Oxford last weekend in the 6 and 5 seats. In a very close race Oxford only just got the better of the Cambridge crew at the line by a canvas. Now Rachel and Dorottya get a second chance to beat Oxford this Sunday on the famous Thames Championship course.
Huge congratulations to Rachel and Dorottya for being selected. The College wishes them the best of luck this Sunday!
Update
The 2016 Blondie crew became the first Cambridge crew to win on the Tideway when they beat Osiris by 3 lengths. Congratulations Rachel and Dorottya!
