Brenda Jennison

We are sorry to report that Brenda Jennison died early on the afternoon of the 15 March. She had been in the Arthur Rank Hospice for the last few weeks after a long illness. 

The funeral service will be held at Cambridge Crematorium on 31 March at 12.45pm, followed by a sandwich lunch in the College Buttery.

Brenda was responsible during her career for the education of Physics teachers in the Cambridge Department of Education, and was Director of Studies in Education as well as a Tutor and Admissions Tutor at Churchill College.

Even on retiring from the Faculty of Education she remained active, including outreach work to encourage students to study physics, book reviews and organising an international seminar on Quality Development in Teacher Education and Training at Udine, Italy.

Brenda served on National Committees for Examinations, and was Founder and Chairman of Cambridge Physics Centre, providing lectures for teachers and pupils in the region; she organised the annual Physics at work Exhibition (1985–2002) for 14–16 year olds to introduce them to industrial applications of physics.

In 2000, Brenda was awarded an MBE for services to physics education.
