Churchill College welcomes Professor Dame Athene Donald DBE, FRS as she commences her appointment as seventh Master of the College.
Professor Donald studied for her BA in Natural Sciences and her PhD in Physics at Girton College Cambridge and was formerly a Fellow of Robinson College. She has been a member of the Cavendish Laboratory since 1983 and Professor of Experimental Physics in Cambridge University since 1998. Her research focuses on using the ideas of soft matter physics to study a wide range of systems of both synthetic and biological origin.
Professor Donald will be formally admitted to the Fellowship as Master at a special meeting of the Governing Body this Friday.
