We are sorry to report the death of Dr R Colin Campbell who died on 24 March 2014, at home, peacefully in his sleep.

Dr Campbell first came to the College in 1962 to teach Part I of the Natural Sciences Tripos. He was in charge of an Agricultural Research Council Statistics Unit and was based in the School of Agriculture.  He lectured in Mathematical Statistics and was known to have organised a first-class relation between the mathematical side and the practical applications in the field.

Dr Campbell was a Title A Fellow from 1962—1989 and was elected to a Title D Fellowship on his retirement. He was very active within College, holding a number of posts including Inspector of Accounts and Tutor, and most notably as Senior Tutor, a post he held from 1975—1985.

The funeral will be held on Friday 11 April at 12pm at Great St Mary’s in Cambridge, followed by a burial at the Barton Glebe Woodland Burial Site at approximately 1.15pm. Everyone is most welcome both to the church and to the burial. This will be followed by a reception at 2pm in the Recital Room at Churchill College.
