Last week we said goodbye to our longest serving member of staff — Graham Pledger, our Deputy Head of Grounds & Gardens, who is retiring after fifty-four years at Churchill.

Graham came to the College as a Trainee Groundsman in 1964 and later became a Senior Groundsman. When the Grounds and Gardens department amalgamated in 1999, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Head.  He was active in the staff social club in the earlier years and ran the staff Christmas raffle.

His dedication to preparing and maintaining all the different sports pitches at Churchill has given many of our sporting students, Fellows and staff great joy over the years.

The College wishes to thank Graham for all his hard work and wishes him all the best.
