Professor Kenneth Arrow, Nobel Laureate and Honorary Fellow of Churchill College, died at his home in Palo Alto, California on the 21 February 2017, he was 95.
Kenneth had been a regular visitor to Cambridge and was an Overseas Fellow at Churchill in 1963, 1970, 1973 and 1986, where he collaborated with founding Fellow, Frank Hahn. In 1972 he was joint recipient, with John Hicks, of the Nobel Prize for Economics, for his pioneering contributions to general equilibrium theory and welfare theory. At 51, Kenneth remains the youngest economist to receive this award.
Kenneth graduated with a BS from City College, New York and went on to an MA and PhD from Columbia University. He subsequently held faculty positions at the University of Chicago, Harvard and Stanford.
Kenneth was elected an Honorary Fellow of the College in 2012.
