This prestigious society was founded in 1947 with E.W. Beth, L.E.J. Brouwer, L. de Broglie, and H. Weyl among its founding members.

Past members include P. Bernays, R. Carnap, A. Church, W. Heisenberg, C. G. Hempel, A. Heyting, S. C. Kleene, P. Lorenzen, W. Pauli, J. Piaget, K. R. Popper, W. V. O. Quine, E. Schroedinger, W. Sierpinski, T. Skolem, and C. F. von Weizsaecker. Current members include Jeremy Butterfield, Nancy Cartwright, Noam Chomsky, Luciano Floridi, Ian Hacking, Hannes Leitgeb, John Norton, John Searle, and Elliott Sober.
