Newton Gulbenkian Junior Research Fellow Dr Conor O’Brien has been awarded The Ecclesiastical History Society’s President’s Prize, for the best paper delivered to the Society by an early career scholar.
The winning paper, written here at Churchill, will be published in Studies in Church History next year as ‘Empire, Ethnic Election and Exegesis in the Opus Caroli (Libri Carolini)’.
This follows on from Dr O’Brien also recieving The Best Book Prize of the International Society of Anglo-Saxonists, for the best book published in any sub-discipline of Anglo-Saxon Studies in 2015 and 2016. The winning monograph, Bede’s Temple: An Image and its Interpretation (Oxford, 2015).
