Congratulations to Churchill alumna Ninon Demuth (G15) who has made this year’s Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe Social Entrepreneurs List for co-founding Über den Tellerrand kochen, an organisation that connects refugees with locals through refugee-led cooking classes, street food markets and cookbooks.
This pilot project aims to inspire cross-cultural exchange and encounters at the groundlevel among cultures through the topic of food, one of the most fundamental means for cultural exchange.
Über den Tellerrand’s events and activities are designed to reach out out to both refugees and the local community in order to facilitate valuable encounters between them and celebrate the diversity of different cultures.
“We are convinced that our creative, educational and supportive programs, which have a strong cultural connection, are the basis for mutual interest, respect and friendship. We promote an active exchange among refugees and the local population, and we give the opportunity for refugees to build a network of friends, allowing those in the community to develop a knowledge of new cultures and traditions.”
