Congratulations to Churchill student James Green, (2nd year Architecture), who was part of the winning Cambridge Men’s Lightweight boat in the 2014 Henley Boat Races.
Cambridge seized the Race from the very first stroke – a lightning quick start saw them take a length’s lead within the first 250m of the Race. They continued to dominate for the length of the course, winning by a margin of three and a half lengths in a time of 5 minutes 30 seconds.
Churchill was also represented in the Women’s boat by Gabriella Johansson, (3rd year Medicine), who were unfortunately beaten by a stronger Oxford crew in the second half of the race by a margin of four lengths in a time of 5 minutes and 50 seconds.
Other Churchill members of this year’s Cambridge squad include: Stella Isaac, who achieved a place in the Women’s Lightweight team but was unfortunately injured in the lead up to the race and Will Brown (3rd year Asian & Middle Eastern Studies), who represented Cambridge in Sunday’s Boat Race as part of the reserve crew.
Congratulations to all of the Churchill students who have been a part of the CUCBC teams this year.
