A huge thank you to everyone who participated in and supported the 2015 Churchill College Chariots of Fire team in Sunday’s relay race.
Churchill was the third fastest college team with a time of 1:07:35 and reached their fundraising goal of £400 for Each (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospice), which is equivalent to:
- 40 meals for children and families staying at the hospice, or
- 20 essential care kits for delivering care in the family home, or
- 10 sessions of music therapy with an EACH music therapists
The Churchill team was made up of postgraduates and Churchill Fellows from a range of different disciplines including; Polar Studies, History of Science, Architecture, Geography, Biosciences and Astrophysics. The team enjoyed enthusiastic support from fellow Churchill members, their families and children who all came along to cheer them on. The team members were; Roman Sidortsov, Elizabeth Wagemann, Karen Wong, Sonke Hee, Dr Helen Anne Curry and Dr Katherine Stott.
Chariots of Fire is one of Cambridgeshire’s largest annual charity events. The race follows in the footsteps of the famous film, taking its scenic route through the streets and colleges of Cambridge, with teams of six each running a 1.5 mile course in relay format. Chariots of Fire is organised and managed by Hewitsons Charitable Trust.
